Dwayne Wade and Lebron James used to be teammates in Miami and brought multiple championships to the Heat organization. Now they are both on new teams, and their teams met for the first time on Friday night in Chicago. These stars battled each other all night long, with Wade getting the upper hand and winning the ball game. However, the biggest star on the court that night was Bulls’ point guard, Rajon Rondo, who finished the game with a triple double. Rondo came up big for his team all night long and had some huge assists at pivotal points in the game.
Cleveland allowed 78 points in the pain against the Bulls Friday night, resulting in their 3rd straight loss. Cavs players had a lot to say after the game and they know if they want to win another championship this year, they must get better at defending the rim. Players said it is time to start playing like champions again and in the last 3 games, they have not looked like a championship team at all. Jimmy Butler scored 26 points, Dwyane Wade had 24 and the Chicago Bulls beat James and the slumping Cavaliers 111-105 on Friday night.
The leader of the Cavs, Lebron James, was not happy at all after losing his 3rd straight game on Friday night. It might also have had something to do with him losing a bet to Dwayne Wade and having to wear a full Chicago Cubs uniform, before the start of the game Friday night. "We got to get out of the honeymoon stage," James said. "You got to play the game, the right way. We've got to battle every night like we ain't won nothing. Last year is last year. After ring night is over with, now it's a new season and everybody is gunning for us every night and we have to understand that. The honeymoon stage is over. It's time to play some real ball and be physical, especially in the trenches. Giving up 78 points (in the paint) is ridiculous. We've got to man up. Everybody."
James called out himself and his teammates in that post game rant, but only time will tell if his comments will actually motivate his team. James had a good game, as he scored 27 points and 13 assists, but his team could not get the win at the end of the day. Chicago dominated Cleveland 78-60 in the paint, out-rebounded the Cavaliers 49-33 and came out on top, despite shooting 3 of 18 on 3-pointers. It was a big turnaround for the Bulls coming off a loss to the Lakers. "I think we know what we're capable of if we play basketball the right way and do what we're supposed to do," Butler said of his Bulls. It is early in the NBA season, but I am sure both of these talented teams will be in the mix at the end of the year.
