The LA Clippers have been the hottest team in the NBA this season, only having one loss so far. That changed on Wednesday night, when the Memphis Grizzlies came to town. That is a great feat any time you can come to LA and beat the Clippers on their home court. The Memphis Grizzlies were able to beat the Clippers, and the biggest reason behind the victory was that the Grizzlies were shooting lights out from behind the three point line Wednesday night.
Seven foot center, Marc Gasol, is becoming a deadly three point shooter in his ninth season in the NBA. It showed in the game when he was able to hit a late three pointer in the fourth quarter, which gave the Grizzlies a lead with only seconds left in the game. Then, there was point guard, Mike Conley, who added 30 points and hit 7 three pointer in the game himself. The Memphis Grizzlies hit a total of 15 three pointers in the game and that was the difference for them. If the Grizzlies can shoot like this throughout the year, they can beat anyone in the NBA.
If Marc Gasol can shoot the three pointers like he has been lately, they surely will be in the mix at the end of the season, and could make a long run in the NBA playoffs this year. Coming into the game, the LA Clippers have been the best team in the NBA and have the best record to back it up. Again this year, like the last 10 years in a row, the Western Conference is a lot more dominant than the Eastern conference. It seems that the only team in the East that can contend with the Western conference powers is the Cleveland Cavs and their super star, Lebron James.
Mike Conley and Marc Gasol have been playing great lately and it has showed in the Grizzlies latest games. "They are the best team in the league right now, so for us to get a signature win like this is huge," Conley said. Gasol has worked all summer long on his three point shot and it has been paying off for him big time this year. "We stay in the moment and it's been good so far," Gasol said. "We made the right plays and we are lucky the ball went in." Any time you can go into the best teams in the leagues home court and get a win, that is big time. The Grizzlies are feeling great after the big win but they know it is a long season ahead.
